DEPARTMENT OF «CHEMISTRY»
Since its establishment in 1943 in Shymkent, the Institute of Building Materials Technology has been engaged in the training of students in the field of general education in chemical disciplines by specialists of the Chemistry Department in general and inorganic, organic, analytical and physical chemistry.
Departments of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physical and Colloidal Chemistry have been established on the basis of this department.
Since its establishment, the department has been led by the following academic staff:

Myasnikova (1969-1974), candidate of biological sciences, associate professor R.N. Yerqazieva (1975-1980), candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor R.I. Stamkulov (1980-1989), candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor A.A. Starchenko (1989-1994), doctor of chemical sciences, professor S.P. Nazarbekova (1994-2008), doctor of technical sciences, professor K.K. Syrmanova (2004-2008), candidate of technical sciences, associate professor K.M. Bekzhanova (2008-2010).
From 2010 to Currently, the department is headed by candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Makhanov M.N.
The Department Employs N.A. Zibrova, P.V. Potemkin, Z.V. Mochinina, N.B. Bizhanova, B.A. Yankovsky, Zh.K. Konysbaev, M.Zh. Beisebaev, S.O. Ongarbaev, K.S. Madikhanova, M.Zh. Duisenbiev. Associate professors and senior teachers such as A.A. Starchenko, A.P. Aueshov, L.D. Aikozova (The best university teacher in the Republic of Kazakhstan), they taught students and conducted scientific work.
The department trains specialists in the educational program at the level of 3 levels:

- 7M01541-Chemistry. International students from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan study in educational programs.
Currently, the Department of Chemistry employs experienced professors, associate professors and senior teachers candidate of chemical sciences, professor Adyrbekova G.M., doctor of chemical sciences, professor Utelbaeva A.B., candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Ermakhanov M.N., candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor Zhurkabayeva L.A., candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor Urmashev B.A., candidate of technical sciences, senior lecturer Bekzhanova K. M., candidate of hemical sciences, associate professor Musayeva S. A., candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Zhatkanbayev Y.T.. and master-teachers such as Sabdenova U.O., Abdibayeva M.M., teachers Alibekova M.A., Mamyrova B.F. and Ibadulla Zh.N. The scientific potential of the department is 64.28%.

The winners of the title "Best University teacher" were: candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Yermakhanov M.N. (The best university teacher of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2013), candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor Adyrbekova G.M. (The best University teacher of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2015), doctor of chemical sciences, professor Utelbaeva A.B. (fellows of young scientists of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the 2014-2015 academic year year, The best university teacher in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2023).
At the university level, senior lecturer, master Sabdenova U.O. became the winner in the nomination of the Best teacher of the SKSU named after M. Auezov (2015) and doctor of chemical sciences, professor Utelbaeva A.B. became the winner in the nomination "The Best Associate Professor of the Year" (2023). By Order No. 195 of the Chairman of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 08, 2024, associate professor of the department of chemistry, doctor of chemical sciences Utelbaeva A.B. was awarded the academic title of associate professor (associate professor) in the scientific field «10300 – Chemical sciences» and by Order No. 579/1 dated July 04, 2024 in the scientific field «20100 – Civil engineering» awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.
A letter of thanks from the Higher Ministry of Science and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2022) was awarded to doctor of chemical sciences, professor Utelbaeva A.B., candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Yermakhanov M.N. certificate of Honor (2024).
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the university, the teaching staff: Adyrbekova G.M., Utelbaeva A.B., Zhurkhabayeva L.A., Urmashev B.A., Bekzhanova K.M., Mussayeva S.A., Zhatkanbayev Y.T., Sabdenova U.O., Bekberdiev N.S. was awarded the badge of M. Auezov (2023).
The department is represented by the O. Zhanibekov South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University (Shymkent), the H. A. Yasavi International Kazakh-Turkish University (Turkestan), the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and the Kazakh National Pedagogical University.Abaya (Almaty) Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaeva, D. I. Mendeleev Russian University of Chemical Technology, Moscow Pedagogical State University, Tomsk State Pedagogical University, Tolyatti State University, Omsk State Pedagogical University, Lomonosov Moscow State University (Moscow), closely cooperates with universities, research institutes and educational institutions.
Following the results of the 2010-2011 academic year, the Department of Chemistry of the Higher School of Natural Sciences and Pedagogy was awarded the title of "The Best Department of the M. Auezov SKSU".
According to the independent rating of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2017, the specialty 5B011200 – Chemistry took the 2nd place, the specialty 6M011200 – Chemistry the 3rd place.
Specialties 5B011200 – Chemistry and 5B060600 – Chemistry according to the AAP took the 3rd place in 2017.
Bachelor of Education in 6B01540 – Chemistry, 6B01541 – Chemistry-Biology, 7M01541 – Chemistry (IQAA) have passed international accreditation (2024-2029).
The department conducts research on state budgetary subjects of the 1st direction:
MB research and development approved for 2021-2025 SB SRW-21-18-02. "Improving the methodological training of future teachers of chemistry and chemical biology." Supervisor: candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor S.A. Mussayeva, the department conducts research on funded scientific projects: "Development of scientific foundations of the effects of solar radiation on thermophysical processes in the air layers of building walls in the hot climate of Kazakhstan" 2024-2026.

The results of scientific research of the faculty of the department are published in highly rated publications (scopus), at international conferences of the far and near abroad, international conferences (ROK), Republican Scientific and Production Enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan and republican regional conferences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, textbooks, teaching aids, copyright certificates and patents recommended by the Federal State Educational Standard of the NGO NPO RK.
The main purpose of the department is to train specialists in the modern chemical industry in accordance with the requirements of the labor market and the demands of employers. It is aimed at bringing students to a high professional level in teaching chemistry, chemical and biological disciplines, as well as at ensuring readiness for effective work in various aspects of pedagogical activity.
